YOU ARE THE ENGINEER
It is the year 2035 and you are an engineer on the Energy Planning Council for the city you are given
The council has to plan the energy system for the city for the year 2050 and is depending on you to develop a recommendation on what plants to build to address the electricity need
Prepare a presentation that describes your recommendation and the assumptions/thought process behind it.
AWARDS
Prizes will include:

a presentation of your project to local and international energy experts
ABUJA STUDENTS
You need to power the area around the city of Kano that in year 2050 will have a projected population of 9,300,000 people
The expected energy need is 5000 MW. Note that this is an arbitrary electricity generation need based on the size of the region
You will use the Energy Cards to help your decision
KADUNA STUDENTS
You need to power the area around the cities of Ibadan, Oyo and Abeokuta that in year 2050 will have a combined population of about 10,200,000 people
The expected energy need is 5600 MW. Note that this is an arbitrary electricity generation need based on the size of the region

Deadline for Submission: November 4th
Submission should include:
Video presentation, no more than 10 minutes long
Optional: written supplemental material (no more than 10 slides or 5 written pages). Students can choose how and who talks in the video

Description of your region in 2050
Recommended energy mix for your city.
Summary of the most important criteria used to guide your decisions and why they were important. Consider your regional needs, resources and constraints
Please include for each energy type in your final mix:
Why was each energy type selected?
Do any of the energy types selected need adaptation or innovation to be implemented? Please include any key assumptions
Any drawbacks of that energy type that you must account for
What questions guided your thinking?
All assumptions and references should be documented
